Kinetic Model Kits has been very active in producing high quality 1/48 scale aircraft with an emphasis on interesting subjects. The S-2 Tracker was the first purpose-built Anti-Submarine Warfare aircraft in the US Navy. As a true Hunter-Killer, it had the capability to hunt (detect) and kill (attack) submerged targets. These served aboard US carriers for a couple decades before being retired in the mid-70s in favor of the S-3 Viking. This kit by Kinetic has lots of nice options, like wing position (folded or extended), crew entry doors and weapons bay doors (open or closed). I found over two dozen listings for this kit on eBay (mostly from China or other overseas sellers), but as a Top Rated Plus US Seller, I have this in stock and can reliably ship this item to you very quickly. Aside from the box art, there is no helpful information about the kit. There are also loads of links to aftermarket parts, reviews, walk-arounds and galleries of completed kits. Michael Benolkin did a short First Look Review on the cybermodeler.com site, with a detailed history of the aircraft. You still get seven high-resolution photos of the sprues and decals to let you know exactly what is in the box. He goes down a long list of impressive features and options for this kit. You only get a few shots of his completed kit, but he gives you quite a few tips and recommendations from his experience with the kit. His Bottom Line starts with: “The kit when finished makes a very impressive display model. Look to the aftermarket people for stronger (white metal) wing fold parts and landing gear. Searchlight, cockpit, nose weight and decal options would also be nice.” Fotios Rouch filed a detailed Build Review on the cybermodeler.com site with about forty high-resolution photos of his construction and finishing of this challenging kit. He makes comments on almost every aspect of the build, so this may save some headaches for you in the future. If you prefer video reviews, Genessis Models created a 10-minute Unboxing Video on YouTube. He jumps right into the plastic parts before checking out the decals and instruction sheets. He voices a lot of opinions, but you also get a very good look at the parts as he shows them for the camera. This kit is in a beautiful box about 15” x 10” x 3”. As you can see from the pictures, the package is pristine and still sealed with tape strips, so I consider it factory sealed and absolutely gift-ready.
