Description: Timeless Stitches Pattern TSD-322 INFANT/TODDLER SHIRT. This is a new, unused pattern in the original factory fold. The INFANT/TODDLER SHIFT pattern is simple to make child's dress (yes boys too!), with soft gathers across the front and back chest with cap sleeves, or wrist length sleeves. Make up several to keep your busy little one clean over a weekend of reenacting. It is easy to add extra length and growth tucks to the skirt for extended use. From the pattern: This garment is a simple, easy to construct dress, worn by infants and toddlers up to about the age of 4. The dress is based on the simple chemise worn by women in the 17th and 18th centuries, and thus is sometimes called the "chemise" gown. The shoulder straps allow for easy fitting of the garment, without the need for a true armhole, the gathered fitting of the garment, without the need for a true armhole. The gathered bodice front and back allowed plenty of room for expansion as the need arose. Many of the early chemise gowns had a second and even third drawstring around the body. The loose flowing body and drawstring neckline allow for freedom of movement and the growth of the child. The garment can be worn both as a chemise and as an outer dress. The length of the dress varied with the age of the child. Growth tucks were often include in the planning of the garment to allow for the growth of the child. This gown is also known as a "Boone Frock". Named because there is an existing garment worn by a relative of Daniel Boone. This pattern is in two basic styles: Style A: This is a high-necked version with a closure at the center back. Style B: This is a low necked style with a drawstring around the neckline. The pattern allows for the choice of either short or long sleeves. Instructions are also include for the optional, additional drawstring just above the waist. Sizing: Children grow rapidly at this age. It is suggested that you plan for this growth by allowing extra length in both the sleeve and the hem. The style of this dress allows for a large amount of growth through the body, before it becomes too tight. Many period photographs show children dressed in clothing too big or too small for them. It was also a fact of life that clothing was handed down from child to child. Do not be afraid to make this garment with plenty of room for growth! It is because of this that the pattern has been sized for infants and toddlers. For all children, other than 1-6 months, I suggest using the Toddler pattern. This will allow plenty of room for growth. It calls for: 1/2 yards of 45" fabric, 1/4" double sided satin ribbon for tie closure or drawstring. I'm happy to combine shipping on multiple items.
