Description: In Closed Territory, by Edgar Beecher Bronson, 1910 First Edition In Closed Territory. Bronson, Edgar Beecher. Chicago: A. C. McClurg, 1910. First edition. First person account of big game hunting adventures in Africa. The author of this book, Edgar Beecher Bronson (1856-1917), was able to obtain a pass for a three-month safari in the "closed territory" of British East Africa (later Kenya), rarely open to foreigners in the early 1900s. This was unmapped territory generally unoccupied by foreigners and the area had seen a bloody revolt only a few months before. Bronson was a rancher and cattleman, as well as an accomplished photographer, and the book's images capture his extraordinary adventure. With just under 100 photographic interesting and compelling illustrations by Bronson. Pictorial hardcover, with illustration of Africa on the front and paste-on illustration showing Bronson and natives. Large titles on front and spine. 299 pages. Very good condition, no marks, firmly bound. Light outline at bottom of spine where a label was once. Uncommon.
