Print of German artist Carlo Demand's gouache painting of Rene Dreyfus piloting the Ecurie Bleue Delahaye T145 to victory in the 1938 Grand Prix of Pau, trying to interrupt the German dominance in Grand Prix racing of the mid to late 1930s. Carlo Demand was an accomplished German artist and prolific illustrator. Motorsports artists as accomplished as Peter Helck were impressed by Demand's skill. Helck wrote about Demand: "...the very best of these works are beyond my skills. There are a dozen in the [print] set which amaze me and I believe [one of them] to be just about the finest racing bit of art I have ever seen." As published in the book, Carlo Demand: In Motion and Color. Print is rendered on an acid-free bright white book stock. Printed back. Print is in excellent condition.
