Description: United States Lines was a trans-Atlantic shipping firm which began service in 1921. It operated freight service until 1989 and passenger ocean liners until 1969. Its most famous ship was the "S.S. United States", which entered service in 1952 but was removed from service in 1969; this ocean liner is now berthed in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area. United States Lines was formally liquidated in 1992. For auction is a menu from the "S.S. United States". It is for the Luncheon Meal on Monday, December 10, 1962. Travelers were tempted with a feast of hors-d-oeuvres, a cold buffet, salad, soup, a choice of fish (salmon, bluefish, pompano), eggs, entrees (spagetti, lamb, spareribs, prime rib of beef, calf's liver, chickenl), vegetables, potatoes, compotes, desserts, cheese and beverages.   The cover has a print of an etching of Windsor Castle, the official residence of the rulers of Great Britain. The back cover (last scan) contains a description of Windsor Castle. This menu measures appx 11 x 8 1/2 inches unopened, 17x11 inches opened, and is printed on a medium-weight cardstock.
