Description: An Absolute Classic Gibson Gold Era Hollowbody! 💥1963/6 Gibson USA ES-330 💥 💥 Metallic Maroon SS Chrome Gibson P90 Single Coil Pick-Ups!💥 Condition 7.5 / 10.0 Very Good Condition Shows many small dings and surface scratches, there are a couple of small chips, one on back of headstock, typical spiderweb finish cracks that are normal on Gibson Hollowbodies of this era. Absolutely nothing in condition to affect this guitar's Classic tone and playability! OHSC include in poor condition (can opt for new HSC if desired) This is the first Professional Guitar I bought for myself at 21 in 1964. Because of the relative rarity and value of this guitar given its condition I will give as full a description as I can as to its Specifications. I bought this guitar as a standard 1963 Gibson USA ES-330 in the standard Red finish offered in 1963. In 1964 about 9 months after I bought it the Clear overcoat on it shattered (very heavy spiderwebbing). As my first real guitar I was devistated so I took it back to the retailer who shipped it back to Gibson. Gibson stripped the guitar back to bare wood and refinished it for me, but as a compensation for the 9 months delay in get it back to me (ahhhh!) they refinished it in a one-off Metallic Maroon finish. All work wasdone in house at the Gibson factory. It came back to me after the delay and it was absolutely stunning! I am not sure why, but Gibson changed the serial number when they refinished it; I am guessing but it may be because they had to sand the headstock, which removed the numbers and they didn't note the original serial numbers beforehand. I have used it in hundreds of studio sessions and I did play it on stage for about 8 years in the 60's into the early 70's, but I am extremely protective of my guitars, so it has survived in remarkable condition given its use and age. What you see on it is honest play wear with a few small chips from small contacts during use. The finish, despite the refinish, spider-webbed again after about 3-4 years as is the case with almost any Gibson of this era. It is completely original with the exception of the tuning heads which were replaced in 1973 with Klutson Deluxe (marked Gibson), and the plastic saddle pieces on the Tun-o-Matic ABS Bridge were replaced with graphite saddle around 1995. I still have the original components from the guitar, but they are not usable due to wear, but can be the guitar can easy be returned to absolute original condition if desired. Please look at pictures carefully and ask any questions you may have before purchase.
