This is Rite Tool Inc. a hand-operated Commutator Undercutter & Truing Set/Lathe. Included instructions are dated 1946, pricing update is dated 1951. The OEM states that this precision set will “ … cover most of the armature shaft sizes on General Motors, Ford & Chrysler cars and trucks, as well as others in general.” (NOTE - 41-42 Ford requires a different size collet, NOT included). This tool patent dates to 1938 and was assigned to John Mansfield of Fall River, MA, see images above. The tool and all included parts are in nice condition, all threaded parts are in excellent working condition with no seen damage or missing pieces. The included metal storage box has some light rust; it may have had a wooden or other liner that is now missing, I have substituted a piece of sheet foam to secure and protect the tools in place while stored. All pieces are clean, the set is complete as you see it & undamaged, lightly oiled and wrapped with VCI paper to inhibit corrosion.
