Description: NEW for 2023! Up for your consideration are 50 Echinodorus cordifolius aquatic plant seeds. Echinodorus cordifolius was the first species of aquatic plant seed that I sold about 50 years ago through classified ads in magazines like Tropical Fish Hobbyist. These are the real thing. Grown by me in my hobby greenhouse. Growing aquarium and aquatic plants from seed is not that unusual. One of the world's largest producers of aquatic plants (located in Denmark) uses seed to produce some of the aquatic plants that they grow in rockwool and sell in net pots (they even state it on their website). These seeds are moderately easy to grow. Echinodorus cordifolius seeds do require a wet/cold period, known as seed stratification, of at least 4 weeks before sowing... detailed instructions are provided. This pre-treatment helps break seed dormancy. The tiny seedlings that are shown in the photo above went through a 7 week wet/cold period... the seeds were submerged in a small container of water and kept in a refrigerator... they then germinated after about 6 days after being placed under lights at 75 degrees F. Echinodorus cordifolius has a wide natural range that extends from South America to central North America as far North as central Illinois. They can be grown as submersed aquarium plants or emersed pond plants. They grow well in an aquarium with heavy feeding and without co2. They make very beautiful aquarium plants when submerged but do require a large aquarium and they will emerge into the air as they mature. They display large white flowers. I grew these seeds in my greenhouse last summer so they are fresh seed. This is a rare opportunity. I know of no one else selling real Echinodorus cordifolius seeds. You will receive 50 Echinodorus cordifolius seeds and germination/growing instructions with each order. Orders for three or less seed packets will be shipped in a regular stamped envelope with no tracking. I ship them this way to keep the costs down for you. I will ship orders for 4 or more total packages of seeds in a USPS First Class package with tracking... so if you want tracking please order 4 or more packets of seeds (they can be the same or different varieties). If you don't agree with this please do not purchase the seeds. I will also cancel all orders to a re-shipper. They do not function well with stamped envelopes. Thank you for understanding. The photos of the plants are for purposes of illustration only. Shipping is free. Please see my other listings for more aquatic plant seed varieties that I offer. I've been growing aquatic plants for at least 50 years and I first sold aquatic plant seeds in the early 1980's through classified ads in popular aquarium magazines. Give aquatic seeds a try... it's a satisfying and fun experience! Thank you.
