Left alone, the substrate will develop the ability to replenish itself with waste from fish, plants, and microfauna. The term AQUA PRETA is derived from the Aztec ancient soil, Terra Preta, renowned for its ability to enrich any soil. Aqua Preta contains many of the same elements that make up Terra Preta. These include char and clay derivative. Adequate for 1" depth covering 200 square inches. Do not put down more than 1" wet soil. There should be no standing water.
