Description: Famed American aviation pioneer AMELIA EARHART autographed 1935 National Air Races stationery, with approximately 25 additional co-signers. Earhart signs inverted, in blue fountain pen, just below the lower right midline for what was then billed as the "15th Annual World's Premier Air Classic". Earhart's signature has been underscored in red by an unknown collector, but the letterhead remains bold and colorful. Signed by Earhart during her record breaking year! In 1935 Earhart became the first aviator to fly solo from Honolulu, Hawaii, to Oakland, California. In the late 1920s and 30s, almost all roads in aviation led to Cleveland, home of the National Air Races. So, naturally, Amelia Earhart was frequently there. Earhart was the first woman to enter the Bendix Air Race, a transcontinental point-to-point race, placing 5th in 1935. Bendix competitors flew from Burbank, CA to Cleveland, OH (except for two years when the contest began in New York and ended in Los Angeles). The sheet of paper also includes the signatures of additional early Aviation pioneers, as shown, including Roy O. Hunt, "America's Premier Stunt Flier"; E.W. "Pop" Cleveland, a renowned commercial pilot since 1912 and a wartime flight instructor; Aerobatic and barnstormer pilot Tex Rankin; Aviatrixes Peggie Lennox and Bettie Lund, a famed barnstormer who once performed 67 barrel rolls in 28 minutes; and Harold Neumann, the 1935 "Air Race Pilot of the Year", among many others. By 1935, Earhart herself had set seven women's speed and distance aviation records in a variety of aircraft! >>> UNCONDITIONALLY GUARANTEED AUTHENTIC!
