You can only carry one stack of each ammo type on your back pack. Make sure to empty your ammo in your backpack (put them in your storage) so you can pick up all the stacks from this pack. 0 backpack space is required because ammo doesn't take up your backpack space. If you store your ammo to your Storm Shield Storage, then it will take up space in your storage.
