Description: This is a very unique and interesting ancestor statue that originated in one of the villages near the Sepik River, Papua New Guinea in the early 1960s. It is painted with white and reddish clay and vegetable colors. It is adorned with shell eyes and vegetable fiber cord arrangements: arm bracelets, ears and pierced nose decorations, etcetera. There are a couple of cracks in the wood on the left side of the head and on the base, but they are almost invisible when looking at the statue, and they do not diminish the overall impact of the statuette. The statue is 15" tall and weighs almost 2 lbs.
