Mori & Son) wrought iron, bronze-clad George Washington bookends. These bookends were found in a large carriage house collection containing, among other things, 80% of an original Ford Model T, an extraordinary triple tier Imperial Russian samovar, and a handful of other Galvano Bronze pieces. Quite the find! The dimensions for these handsome bookends can be found below.Founded in New York City by the father and son duo, and operating under the trademarked name "Galvano Bronze", P. Mori & Son produced some of the finest electroplated bookends and statuettes to come out of the 20th century's wild teens. The majority of the bronze cladding for both bookends is intact, although you can see a few areas where that cladding has degraded and formed shallow pock marks. Each bookend has its own unique traits, up to and including a small difference in weight. We believe these bookends would have been made around 1918, but we'd love to hear from you if you have a more precise date. The casting molds used for these bookends were reappropriated by another company nearly 2 decades later, producing modified (although similar) pieces. These lacked the hollow cavity, and were footed with felt.Due to the age and rarity of these bookends, exceptional care will be taken during the packaging and shipping process.
