Description: A working cast iron steam engine demonstrator showing the operation of a piston steam engine through the compression and exhaust cycle and linkage to the drive wheel. This model was made by Central Scientific Company of Chicago, Illinois with the name configuration showing it was made between 1900-1907 (the name changed in 1908). While later models made from the 1920s-1950s are common, it is unusual to find one of these early models. There has been no restoration to this demonstrator. It measures approximately 15 inches in length, about 8 1/2 inches at the lever behind the drive wheel, and the base stand is 5 1/2 inches. Weight before packing is 5 lbs. This came to use from the collection of an astute collector of cast iron toys and objects in western Kansas. Condition Report: the demonstrator is in full working order with all known parts intact and operational. It has expected wear from age and use. We have judiciously lubricated the moving parts with Whitlock's clock oil. All items shipped insured. We pack professionally in boxes adequately sized to assure your purchase reaches you in the condition it leaves our store--see our Customer Reviews.
