Description: This antique painting depicts a beautiful landscape with cows grazing in the fields. The artist, Arthur Winter Shaw, has expertly captured the serene beauty of the scene. The painting is perfect for art enthusiasts and collectors alike, with its stunning composition and use of vibrant colors. The frame has seen better days but it is a nice frame nine the less and can be restored. Has two gallery labels on back. One from luscombe carroll galleries and another for Mayberry fine art. This is on 14 by 18 inche canvas. Titled "a link with the past" with amberley castle in the background. and no 177. Arthur Winter Shaw (1869-1948) was born in Peckham, the son of a Clerk to the War Office. He studied at Westminster School of Art and at the Slade. In about 1904 he moved to Amberley in Sussex, then the home of a thriving artistic community established by Edward Stott who has been described as the poet-painter of twilight. Stotts influence can clearly be seen in the present work. Shaw was a regular exhibitor at many venues in London and the provinces as other venues of the time. This was out of a recent estate purchase of a few nice antique pieces. This in my opinion is the best of them. Really nice to have the oroginal labels on the back. See pictures. Sold as is. Happy bidding.
