Description: Antique Primitive Handmade Black Walnut Bed 1700's / 18th Century Colonial Era. This antique bed frame comes from a 300 year old estate whose family roots date back to the Colonial Era. According to the estate, their original ancestors were from New England and they then established themselves in the North East Ohio Great Lakes Basin area, the estate from which this piece was obtained. We believe this to be Black Walnut. The frame is hand hewn and the lumber is clearly rough cut. The hand scraped, hand formed posts and rails show the cut marks and scrapes from a pioneer woodworker of yesteryear. The hardware is primitive as is the linkage. The bed itself is telltale pioneer as its size and simplicity are indicative of the primitive life of a colonist moving westward. The estate believes the bed to be mid to late 1700's. The bed was stored in the attic of a 200+ year old home. The bed assembles properly and the linkage seats correctly. We did not apply a load to the assembled frame but it looks to be sturdy and able to bare a proper load. Look at the pictures carefully. You are buying exactly what you see.
