Ulriksen is perhaps best known for his New Yorker covers & art pieces. This was his debut as a children's book illustrator. The book is inscribed, signed and dated on the title page: "9.12.04 To Joan - with local appreciation - Best - Mark Ulriksen" But what makes this book truly unique is that I also asked his wife and two daughters - in attendance at the event - to sign their names in the book as well, near the art depicting them. His two daughters, Emma and Lilly signed above the drawings of their heads on the page opposite "The judges whispered..." They are second and third to the left in a line-up of seven children's heads. His wife, Leslie Flores, signed along the drawing of her in the lower corner of the page that starts with "Harvey beamed." BONUS ITEMS LAID IN: 1.)
