This auction is for the following Robert Caron (Deceased) CIA Air America helicopter pilot RARE autographed 4x6 inch photograph. BIO: Robert Caron (Deceased) CIA Air America helicopter pilot during the Fall of Saigon. During “Operation Frequent Wind” he piloted a UH-1 Huey on a mission to rescue high profile Vietnamese officials including the Defense Minister and CIA assets who would have been captured and executed as the NVA tanks began taking over Saigon. Caron landed his UH-1 Huey on the top of the Deputy CIA Station Chief’s apartment building a half-mile from the embassy. He reducing the helicopters power just enough to set down but leaving enough lift in the spinning rotor to keep much of the aircraft's weight off the rickety aging roof. Caron successfully rescued the high risk Vietnamese and landed aboard a U.S. Navy ship. Carson is the pilot in the famous photograph taking during the Fall of Saigon at Pittman apartment building rescue. THIS IS AN AUTHENTIC HAND AUTOGRAPHED 4x6 PHOTOGRAPH.
