Description: Original circa 1860’s-1880’s tintype photo. This rare and unusual tintype shows a photographer wearing a soft cloth hat with the word “PHOTOGRAPHER” on a band across the front of his hat. Note: the word “PHOTOGRAPHER” is shown backwards in the photo as it is normal for words to appear backwards in tintypes. The photo was found many years ago in Elizabethtown, Pa. We do not know the name of the photographer and we do not have any other background history with the photo. The front of the tintype has numerous bends and a few minute pin speck size rust spots and some wear. There is a thin line of rust at the bottom left hand corner on the front. The back of the tintype has assorted bends and some rust. The photo measures 3 1/4 inches long by 2 13/32 inches wide.
