Description: We are moving and downsizing. With some sadness we have decided it is time to part with some our our most treasured and beautiful art nouveau pieces. From our personal collection we are pleased to offer this rare trio from the famed French Art Nouveau Artist and Sculptor, Claude Bonnefond. The trio consists a stunning pair of tri-sconce candelabra and a matching bowl made out of highly polished pewter. Each candelabra features an elegant woman in an evening gown fused with three lilies at her back which are designed to hold three candles. It is a masterpice of Art Nouveau. These candelabra come up very rarely and almost inevitably what you get is a pair of matching sculptures. However, as you can see the original intention was the subject in each candelabra was in a somewhat different pose and the pair were designed to face each other. This pair seem to come to auction about once each decade. We have not seen any sales of these candelabra of recent time, and never of a true pair. We do however note that there have been the occasional sale of a bronzed pair (ther match ours being different left and right). It is our belief these are reproductions but we are not experts. This pair are original. This is an opportunity to possess something both beautiful and very rare. For sale with the two candelabra we are including this very rare matching bowl also by Claude Bonnefond. It also includes a sculpted maiden that matches the one in the candelabra. It is our belief that the woman that is the subject of these pieces was the American dancer, Loie Fuller, who conquered Paris on her opening night at the Folies Bergere on November 5, 1892 and featured in a number of other pieces by Claude Bonnefond. The candelabra on the left is clearly signed on the base "C. Bonnefond." There are vestiges of a signature on the one on the right. It looks like it was the placement of the signature that caused it to be largely missing, not that it has been polished out, but I believe it is quite clear that it would have been the same as the one on the left. The bowl also has the clear "C. Bonnefond" signature. What is noteworthy about the bowl is that on the bottom has the stamp of the Imperial Zinn company. This was a German company that produced aret nouveau metal ware from 1899-1910. There is a barely discernible mark on the base of one of the candelabra that indicates that it too may have been produced there. The candelabra are in generally excellent condition with crisp detail. They each have their complete set of brass bobeches into which you place the candles. As you can see from the pictures one arm of the candelabra on the left has been bent inward. We believe that it can be straightened with application of a little heat and gentle pressure but that is the job of a professional, not a task we would undertake. The bowl would we imagine have had a liner when originally sold. We believe it would have been a metal tray, not a glass insert. Whatever was there originally has been lost over the years. Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE We believe we have the pieces in our collection fairly priced for collectors given the rarity and condition of most of them We tend not to make offers to watchers but almost all of our pieces have a best offer option. We do welcome fair offers. If you are interested we do encourage you make an offer. If an item only has a "Buy Now" option it means that we have seen enough sales or have enough information to know the item will sell at that price when the right buyer sees it..
