Description: A hand carved wooden duck decoy, signed by R. Dedekind of Pennsylvania, number 641. Ross Dedekind is a wood carver from West Lawn, Pennsylvania, active since 1974 and a member of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen. One of his signatures is to place a penny inside each hollow wooden duck (which can still be heard rattling around), and he ballasts the bird with lead to sit naturally in the water. This decoy was purchased new and never used, so is clean other than shelf wear.
