These kits were released with either clear or translucent green canopy, nose tube, and stand. This kit has the clear parts.The kit dates from between 1950 and 1955. This is one of three early Hawk Panther kits I have listed for sale. All are complete and all are molded in metallic blue. I would have to say this is the poorest box of the three. The colors are fairly bright, not much yellowing at all, but the right end, especially top right corner has some crushing. I've tried to capture it as best as possible in the pictures. Check out the other listings for comparison. Brief background on the Hawk Panther kit: This is one of Hawk's earliest plastic kits. It first appeared in Hawk's dealer brochures sometime in 1950 (see photo of a distributor's flyer). The 1-piece flip-top box was used by Hawk until they re-issued the kit in their "Picture Galley" series sometime around 1955/56. You may know that this is one of two Hawk kits (the other is the Lockheed F90) that it is rumored to have been copied by Aurora. Aurora released their Panther in late 1952 and sold it for 69 cents. Hawk's original price for the Panther was $1.50 but was dropped to 69 cents most likely in response to, and to compete with, the Aurora model.
