Description: Up for grabs is a 1981 Hondo Professional Series Longhorn model HP-1081. Crafted at the Matsumoku factory in Japan, it unmistakably draws its visual cues from the Danelectro Guitarlin. The solid ash body showcases a rich dark walnut finish and is equipped with a lone humbucker, offering a surprisingly wide spectrum of tonal possibilities. The trio of petite factory toggles permits the engagement of either or both coils of the pickup, the coil phase, and the activation of an active boost circuit across these configurations. The sonic output is substantial, with a dense, resonant character that packs both punch and depth. Predictably, tapping the humbucker's coils introduces a brighter top end, and the out-of-phase setting delivers a distinct quack-like quality. The boost circuit, when engaged, propels smaller tube amps into overdrive, unleashing a midrange-centric growl that leans into a satisfying crunch. At one point in it's life, the neck was repaired and is solid (stays in tune without issue). If a headstock repair doesn't scare you away and you want a solid deal on a classic vintage guitar, snag this one before someone else does!! Electronics are tested and working 100% as expected.
