Description: This antique book is the first American edition of The Poems of Ossian, The Son of Fingal, by James Macpherson. It was published in 1790. This book is in acceptable condition. The front board is intact but has separated from the rest of the book, as has the first page (which is blank). The pages towards the beginning of the book feel somewhat loose, but the majority of the pages seem to be securely bound, and it is possible to use this as a reading copy. However, due to the deteriorating condition of the binding and covers it would be prudent to get it rebound. The pages have light to moderate foxing (mostly light) and normal shelf wear along the edges. I have tried my best to capture all of the damage in the photos, but as this is a very old book and I wanted to minimize my handling of it I may have missed some imperfections. Overall in surprisingly good shape for its age with the only major flaw being the separated front board and front-most page.
