Liliput 105 37 HO gauge DR BR 05 streamlined steam locomotive in light grey

Description: This nice and very rare three rail AC HO gauge loco by Liliput is 105 37 a DR BR 05 streamlined steam locomotive. The running number is 05 001. These locos are quite rare and do not come onto the market often - do not miss out. The Class 05 of the Deutsche Reichsbahn (DR) were experimental high-speed tender locomotives with a 2'C2' wheel arrangement based on the standard express train locomotives . The streamlined fairing of the first examples completely enclosed the tracks and reached down to a few centimetres above the top edge of the tracks; the engine was accessible via roller shutters. The red paintwork was chosen to visually highlight it. The 05 003 was built with a driver's cab at the front to give the crew a better view of the track. The fuel had to be transported from the tender, which continued to run behind the locomotive, to the firebox at the front, so it was decided to use coal dust as fuel. It differed from the other two machines in that it had a boiler with a combustion chamber and a rear bogie with an internal frame. This design was disappointing, so this example was converted to a conventional steam locomotive before the end of the war, and at the same time it lost its streamlined cladding. After being taken over by the German Federal Railway (DB), the remains of the streamlined panels were removed. The 05 001 later received its original red paneling back and has been in the Transport Museum in Nuremberg since 1963. In 1936, the 05 002 set the official world speed record for rail vehicles of 200.4 km/h. This makes it the fastest German steam locomotive to date and, according to official standards, the fastest steam locomotive in the world! The loco is in good condition as you can see in the pictures, We are unable to test it as we do not have a three rail AC test rig or track, so we have not tested it but can see no reason why it would not run. It is sold in untested condition, this means that it may not run, and as such it is not being sold in running condition. However a complete external visual inspection has shown no reason why this loco would not run and the overall condition is good. The box is in good if slightly shelf worn condition. Overall this is a really nice scale locomotive and would look fantastic on a layout.
