Description: Lone Cypress Tree Pebble Beach California Hand Tinted Photograph Photo Vintage Description and Item Information Up for sale is this unframed, old, hand colored photograph of the Lone Cypress tree. Please excuse any glare in the photos. This iconic tree is a Monterey cypress which overlooks Carmel Bay in Pebble Beach, California. This tinted photo measures approximately 9 9/16 inches by 19 7/8 inches. This would be a nice addition to a collection of landscape photography. Identification This unsigned piece may have been done by Bear Photo of San Francisco. The exact age is not known, but it is vintage or antique, probably circa 1920s. The photo was taken prior to 1941, when a protective stone retaining wall was built around the base of the Lone Cypress. The tree is believed to have been seeded around 1750. It is still living today; however, the appearance is different due to a broken limb in 2019. Condition This unframed photo looks very good overall, as shown. The photo has no creases, or holes; the paper is slightly curled up at the edges. There is a faint scratch or scuff mark along the tree on the left side. There is a small, dark dot near the right hand edge. The edges are slightly irregular and may have been trimmed. The back side is as shown, with some fixing, toning, discoloration, and hand written pencil markings.
