Description: 4 fan lot - Merit Megatouch Ion Evo compatible 12V 2Pin Cooling Fan, each 50mm square by 10mm thick. Great fit for ION, but Force case fans are 52mm with hole spacing just a teeny-tiny bit wider, so these require enlarging the holes a little to use in Force machines. Other than downright abuse, HEAT causes the most problems in these games, especially in tightly-packed Megatouch EVO's. HEAT also accelerates aging including the dreaded and inevitable electrolytic capacitor "jiffy-pop". If you want your machine to last as long as possible, the airways, heatsinks, and fans have to be kept clean, and fans have to be replaced well-BEFORE they grind to a complete stop (3500rpm is one standard minimum.) A wise-old life-long game operator once told me, "Replace the fans and power supply every 3 years, and your Megatouch will last forever!" Now, he was talking about games running all day everyday in commercial use, so it may only need to be done once every decade or so after transitioning to home-use. Either way, these are expensive game systems that you really don't want to have to fix if you can avoid it..., which of course is why the fans and dirt get ignored and lead to more catastrophic and harder/expensive to repair failures. This lot of four 2-wire fans is intended for cabinet ventilation not for processor (CPU) cooling, which takes a 3-wire fan. (It's hard to see the CPU fan in a Force EVO, so important to monitor the fan speed in on-screen diagnostics, which requires a 3-wire fan.) Cabinet fans that come with the original connector for the easiest swap-out are hard to find and usually much more expensive. The fans for sale here require a bit more labor on your part, as you will likely have to cut the 2-pin connector off of your old tired fans and splice them onto these fresh new fans. If you're mechanically inclined enough to even consider opening-up one of these machines in the first place, you should have an easy time stripping, twisting, and taping a couple of wires together, black-to-black, red-to-red. Fans blow out of their frame/label side, so make sure fans nearest the top of your machine assist convection by blowing out of the cabinet and fans near the bottom blow upward and/or pull air in from the bottom openings. We have many other Megatouch parts not necessarily listed on ebay. Please don't hesitate to contact us with questions! Best of luck! :) Megatouch Tips!: Keep EVO heat sinks and airways clean and all fans spinning at top speed! (Aim lowest fans to blow upward, top fans to blow out. If any doubt at all, replace fans with new ones.) Renew CPU heatsink compound if you're handy with that sort of thing. Be meticulous about layout of internal wiring and connectors so when you close the monitor cabinet, the electronics aren't being crushed nor interfering with fans. Replace CPU fan if self-test speed reports less than 3500rpm. Confirm that power supply voltages are correct, and if the power supply gets very hot, replace with one rated for 250 to 300Watts or more, which runs cooler and helps all components last longer. Watch for bulging tops on failing can-shaped electrolytic capacitors, but don't replace them yourself unless you have significant soldering experience. If game does nothing at all when switched on, possibly just dead button cell CMOS battery on motherboard. Read about jumper-starting ATX power supplies (or write me), gently replace battery, connect a keyboard to the game's motherboard, startup with delete button pressed, set Fail-Safe Defaults, then set Optimized Defaults, set BIOS date and time, disable any boot device other than ATAPI CD and IDE, set to Power-On after power failure. Exit saving changes. On Midway Infinity, no jumper-startup needed, just replace CMOS battery, press F1 or F2 at start-up, set time & date, set to Power-On after power failure, disable floppy A drive and set IDE as first and only boot device. Exit saving changes.
