Description: Monolena Primuliflora (One Seed Pod) each pod contains around 100 seeds This plant is an extreemly beautiful epiphyte native to Ecuador and Peru. Its easy to grow from seed. it will begin to form its codex. bellow ill give you growing instructions. This plant is from the Malestomataceae family like the currently trendy Sonerila. Contrary to most information it does not need high humidity to grow but you need to grow the leaves in the humidity you want to keep it at or they will fall apart or dry out. Biggest thing to note is that the lower your humidity the less draught tollerant it will become. to keep it at house humidity I recomend either using net pots and wicks with a jar resevoir or using a tall pot (and ideally a base layer of pumice or leca) and keeping it sitting in a dish of water. If youve had African Violets its pretty much the same. As the plant matures you will see tiny clear beads form all over the leaves and petioles. These are not pests nor is the plant sweating. These are sweet protein pellets often called ‘pearl bodies’ that the plant produces to feed its ant friends but dont worry It will not attract any ant species outside of the tropical on in Ecuador and PeruEnhance your indoor garden with Monolena Primuliflora SEEDS. These houseplant seeds are perfect for those who love tropical wet climate and full shade. The ant plant, a common name for this genus, is known for its fast-growing nature and self-pollinating features. With a planting time of just 2 weeks, these seeds are very easy to cultivate and require heavy watering. The air purifying properties of this plant make it a great addition to any indoor space. These seeds are perfect for those who want to add a touch of the tropics to their indoor garden. Growing From Seed -crack open the seed pod over a sheet of paper -The pod has 3 sides and on each side it has 3 rows of approx 10 seeds -use a toothpick or paper clip to pop out all the seeds while limiting non seed matter -Next, this technique is known as paper rolling and its one of the most effective ways to get nice clean seeds *using a second sheet of paper hold the paper at an angle until all the heavier rounder seeds start to roll. lightly tap at the base of the paper. catch the seeds on the second sheet of paper then dust off the scrap from the first sheet and repeat until your satisfied. all not seed scrap should be seperated and any bad seeds which are generally less round and deflated. now you have clean seeds -you can use a typical seed mix or i prefer long viber sphagnum moss but use it directly out of a freshly opened package or youll get mold. moisten only with distilled water. I prefer container without drain holes for this i use a 6”+ plastic container about 3”-4” deep and i fill with moss or mix between 1/3-1/2 full. stay under 1/2 or algae will go nuts. -prep the surface of media to be somewhat flat without compressing the media too much -hold paper with seeds over the container at angle and tapping paper use to distribute seeds as evenly as you can -cover with plastic wrap and place in bright indirect light *now in a few weeks they will germinate and once they get a little bigger you can move them into cell trays pots or cups. plastic shot glasses work well GOOD LUCK
