This simple yet unique design creates a dynamic and interactive overdrive that can adapt its voicing to changes in pick attack and guitar volume. ORIGIN EFFECTS took great pains to accurately reproduce the legendary mid-forward voicing sound and the characteristics of the now unavailable vintage diodes, but also incorporated some innovative features that go beyond the original's features. One of the secrets of the Halcyon Gold Overdrive is the ADAPT switch. With this ADAPT function, the mid-range voicing gradually fades out as you turn down the guitar's volume and change to a clean sound. This means you can get the classic Klon tone while still being able to clearly express the guitar's original clean tone characteristics with the control of the guitar's volume knob. The DRY control allows you to adjust the level of the dry signal that is part of this classic drive tone. When boosting a low gain amp sound, you can increase the dry signal level to add body and definition to the sound, or reduce the dry signal level to make the most of the high gain tone with a clean amp. This DRY path has been improved to change the overload characteristic, giving you access to a wider variety of drive flavors when used with other drive pedals. The VOICE switch allows you to choose between the classic Klon mid-forward voicing sound and a smoother, more balanced MOD sound. The KLN setting is the standard voicing, while the MOD setting has a wider mid hump and a softer, more compressed clipping characteristic.
