Influenced by House, Hip-Hop, Techno, and by the rave parties, several French producers participated in democratizing electronic music in the mid-'90s. Their music, dubbed "French Touch" by British journalist Martin James, became a new musical genre internationally renowned and characterized by electronic productions and music samples from Hip-Hop, Funk, & Disco. The French Touch scene reinvented itself in the early 2000s with a new generation of uninhibited artists, carried by a raw sound closer to rock. The 2010s brought another new French Touch wave influenced by pop music and more focused on melody and oneiric universes.
