Description: These are the printouts from the Associated Press (AP) wire service that went out to radio and television stations notifying them that President Richard M. Nixon had officially resigned the Presidency and that Gerald Ford had been sworn in as the new President. For those too young to remember, prior to the internet, radio and television stations would have special printers set up to receive news bulletins from the new services of the day like the Associated Press and United Press International. The five dots that appear on the upper left corner of each strip indicate the priority of the bulletin. Five dots meant something urgent and fewer dots were for less severe news updates. Staffers at the station would pull these off and give them to the DJ or news anchor to read out over the air. This belongs to a friend who worked a number of years at a classic rock radio station and has accumulated quite a collection of radio, broadcast and music memorabilia. I'll be listing some of these items for him so please check back often.Contact me if you have any specific areas of interest. There are signed guitars, hard to find vinyl LPs, unique Beach Boys items, reel-to-reel recordings, etc.
