Description: New crystals from our Christmas trip to our mine! Beautiful Australian smoky quartz crystal, mined by hand with love from, Mooralla in Victoria. These smoky quartz crystals came to life inside geodes, which formed inside air bubbles and pockets known as 'vugs' within rhyolite lava which flowed across the plains over 380 million years ago. Over the ages, the rock has been buried, submerged under sea, compressed, folded and uplifted then froze through an ice age or two before weathering to its current state. On the present surface, the rhyolite has decomposed to a thick layer of fine sand or clay. Meters below hides the rhyolite stone, unweathered, massive and cement-like. Colourful, banded layers of lava flow bearing all kinds of crystalline wonders to the lucky or the blessed! All measurements are rounded to the nearest .5cm to the best of our ability!
