Description: "Shana Tova" Happy New Year postcards - published by the Soldiers' Welfare Committee in gorgeous, mint-like condition as if they were printed yesterday. 15 postcards with "Happy New Year" greetings accompanied by black and white photos from the War of Independence and the rise of the State of Israel. Published by the Soldiers' Welfare Committee, Tel Aviv. The committee was established in the days of the Jewish Brigade and was then called the National Committee for the Jewish Soldier, it sent greetings, gifts and reference books to the Jewish soldiers. With the establishment of the State its name was changed to the Soldiers' Welfare Committee, and in its last incarnation Association for the Israel Soldiers. A few months after the establishment of the State, they produced a series of 'Shana Tova' postcards that were very popular and promoted the year 5709 / 1949. It is very rare to find the entire series in mint condition as if it was printed yesterday with an almost complete set of 14 out of 16 cards (there is one duplicate).
