Replacement Typewriter Feet for Underwood Champion / Universal Portable

Description: Please see all my other typewriter feet at: https://www.ebay.com/usr/biermeister1"Flat Top Rear Foot" option means one set of 4 feet, with flat-topped rear feet"Raised Back Top Rear Foot" means one set of 4 feet, with raised back rear feet"Front Feet Only" means just that, 2 front feet, this was asked for, I suggest you replace all 4 feet! This listing is for a set of 4 replacement typewriter feet (or two front feet) which will fit a variety of Underwood typewriters marked as "Universal", "Champion", or possibly neither and commonly referred to as "Underwood 4 Banks". But, please study this listing closely, Underwood (like other manufacturers) changed design details and foot designs frequently. Here you must pick from two design options depending on your machine. Please closely read this listing, and examine my photos and diagrams to confirm which one (if any!) will fit your machine. The front feet are the same for all covered model years (if yours looks like the photos). The two options are only about the rear feet, which are very similar but slightly different. Basically these are for your machine if from the 1920's or 1930's only, and: 1. If the rear feet are NOT against the back of the machine, but an inch or so towards the front, you want the "Flat Top Rear Foot" option 2. If the rear feet ARE against the back of the machine, you must choose the appropriate option. Look closely at your machine and my photos: o If the mounting flange extends to the very back of the machine (or within a couple millimeters), you want the "Flat Top Rear Foot" option", as there is no room for the raised back option to fit. o If the mounting flange is inset a bit further (at least 4mm), you can use the "Raised Back Top Rear Foot" option, which extends up in back to hide the mounting flange. It should be possible to fit the "Flat Top Rear Foot" on these machines as well, but it will not look as nice from the rear due to exposed flange and larger gap. 3. If your original rear feet are intact, it may be obvious which type you need from the original (if not squished). These typewriters originally had rubber feet that by now may have the properties of chewing gum under a desk. Even if they look ok, they probably have no traction at all, so the machine will slide around making typing difficult. Mine were the latter, enabling me to make very good measurements of their rather complicated design. These are replacement and much improved feet using modern 3D Printing techniques and materials, I think they look and function better than the original rubber ever could have, and will hopefully last a lot longer! My research indicates that these should fit on all the Underwood Universal machines made through 1948 (from photo evidence on TWDB), and probably through 1952. Basically, if your machine looks just like the mine in the photographs, they should fit. Pay particular attention to the foot style (if they exist on yours), or at least placement of the mounting points. The front and back feet have a completely different design, although look similar mounted. In the front, they are to be pushed through large holes below the Back Space (left) and the *- (right). In the back--this is the key feature to identify that these are the correct feet--they are flush with the back, and the shell has a cutout matching these feet so you completely can see them from the back (see photo). The back feet are mounted by inserting a screw through a washer on the bottom. Note that the front feet also have a hole in them, but this is for the post on the case bottom to fit through. These machines probably need the “Raised Back Top Rear Foot” There are similar looking machines marked “Champion”, which seem to hail from 1936 through about 1940. They probably need the “Flat Top Rear Foot”. So, there are a bunch of other Underwood “4 Bank” machines that might say "Universal" on them, but they have different feet. There are even a bunch grouped together in TWDB along with this machine under "Underwood Universal" (https://typewriterdatabase.com/Underwood.Universal.4.bmys), but most of those are actually different machines, usually referred to as "Underwood 4-banks", for example this one: https://typewriterdatabase.com/1935-underwood-universal.2843.typewriter. They tend to have a cutout front, and elegant logo ribbon covers. You can clearly see from the rear photo that you can't see the feet, and they are different. The front feet are actually the same. These seem to need the “Flat Top Rear Foot”, and seem to hail from the 1920’s through about 1936. I designed these to be nearly an identical replacement, but with the advantages of modern technology we can engineer materials that were previously impossible. I printed with NinjaFlex Black TPU (https://ninjatek.com/ninjaflex/), which is nearly indestructible in ordinary use (but a knife or scissors will cut it, just like rubber!), flexible, and pretty gripping on most surfaces. I printed these at about 50% infill (with a flexible gyroid fill structure) for a balance between good friction on the table, tight fit on the machine and shock absorption, and ability to easily install or remove them. These look and function just like the original, but should last much longer and be far more durable. Some people may prefer the original dull rubber look, but I actually think these are a superior look to rubber, and the glossy sheen looks great accenting the dark grey of the machine. I designed these for my own typewriter as shown, and this is an experiment to see if it's worth my time to make some more for the community. I typically share my designs for anyone to print, except for extremely difficult cases that I put a lot of design hours into. This is one of those, front and rear feat are completely different designs with a ton of critical dimensions, it took many iterations for each to get the design right. They also use more than twice the NinjaFlex material and printing time as my other feet, so I have to charge more for them. PS: Ebay's volume discount display is a bit confusing, each purchase is a SET OF FOUR feet, so picking "1" is one set of 4; "2" is 2 sets of 4 (8), etc. **PSS** Typewriters and mounting hardware shown in photos is for illustration and display only, and is NOT included in this listing!! *****Update*** Added an option on request to just purchase two front feet (the ones with the bulb on top that pushes through the hole in the frame). This is NOT recommended, you should really replace all 4 feet!
