Description: REX (1932) -- Italia Line Built by Societa Anonima Asaldo, Sestri, Genoa, Italy for the Navigazione Generale Italiana Line She was a 51,062 GT ship with dimensions of 833'x97'. Quadruple-screw, 28 knots, two masts and two funnels. During construction in 1932 the ownership was transferred to newly formed Italia Line. Commenced her maiden voyage from Genoa to New York Sept. 27, 1932. Had accommodation for 2,024 passengers and her crew numbered 810 members. This great liner was bombed and sunk by British aircraft., Sept 9, 1944. while being towed to a new hiding place. The sunken hull was broken up for scrap in 1947.
