Description: This ladies circa 1934 rare watch from Rolex’s Queen Range is a classic. Wear it alone or stack it with bracelets and you are sure to make a fashion statement. A wonderful Manual wind Ladies steel Rolex watch. Fitted to a new leather strap band. The original dial has ghosted carrying lovely patina and is signed Rolex below ‘12’ with the retailers signature ‘Walker’ proudly sitting above ‘6’ o clock. The case and the movement are both signed Rolex. Recently serviced by a Rolex specialist watchmaker, with no issues to report keeping accurate time and in good running order, ready to treasure and enjoy! Rolex marketed this watch to the Lady who placed perfection before price and "Created by perfectionists for perfectionists" and it's easy to see why when you look at this wonderful sophisticated example. Encased in a steel Tonneau case which has been preserved remarkably well with some marks and wear, the ‘pièce de résistance’ of this piece is of course the case design which has been profusely made and incredibly characteristic defining the watch’s aesthetic. They also add to the watch's proportions quite significantly at a height of 27mm from end to end. At 13mm wide this watch is a standard size ladies size for the era in which it was made although still very very small compared to modern Rolex watches - This Rolex is a very rare find, certainly in such good mechanical order, and will simply never go out of style. Wears on your wrist in pure elegant style - It is the epitome of style and elegance, not to pass! The Original Dial: The dial is signed Rolex below ‘12’ o clock followed by the retailer’s signature ‘Walker’ above ‘6’ o clock with Swiss Made at the very bottom. This is a unique silvered dial has ghosted and carrying wonderful patina. Raised Arabic numerals with blued steel ‘Lance’ handset. Dial has marks and noticeable fading commensurate with age and wear - Please observe photographs carefully. Original Crystal: Perspex crystal in good condition for the age. Original Movement: F calibre 180, Signed Rolex 15 Rubis Fab Suisse - Rolex went to considerable trouble and expense to ensure its small Calibre series movements performed equally as well as its larger gents movements, and they succeeded! These are indeed high precision movements and the example here is running beautifully – The high grade 15 jewel hand-wound movement is in incredibly clean and sparkling condition and has been serviced by a Rolex specialist watchmaker with no issues to report, keeping accurate time. This particular movement is in beautiful condition and with similar care and regular servicing, say every 3 to 4 years, one can expect this watch to continue to run very happily for many more decades to come! Original Case: This Tonneau case is a very solid two-piece case with a wonderful Art - Deco design. Stainless steel case measures 13mm wide excluding the crown and sits 27mm high lug to lug. Has surface scratches associated with base polished metals commensurate with age and wear. Case Back Cover Outer: The press fit case-back clicks into place with a firm and satisfying ‘pop’, indicating it is a nice tight fit and is of full thickness. Signed with the Rolex coronet, serial numbered 034*** dating the watch to ‘1934’ on the Rolex date register, reference numbered 3031. Has surface hairline scratches associated with base polished metals commensurate with age and wear. There are no dents. Case Back Cover Inner: Inside the case-back is signed Rolex 25 Records Universels Geneve - Suisse SAR. In Good condition. Period service markers present. Original Crown/Winder: The crown is unsigned as they were back in the 1930s on most Rolex watches. In good functioning order. Additional Information; It is not quite so well known that Rolex was actually founded in the UK in London 1905 and it was not until 1919 that the company transferred its base of operations to Geneva, Switzerland. It is also a misconception that the world of luxury watches is a gentlemans one, as the first recorded wristwatch was actually designed for a lady. In June 1810, Abraham-Louis Breguet made a watch for Caroline Murat, Queen of Naples. For many decades, women have proudly worn Rolex watches and have been integral to the brand’s success… Rolex went to considerable lengths and expense to ensure its 19.7mm diameter, small movements performed equally as well as its larger gents Precision movements – and they succeeded! These are indeed high precision movements and the example here is running perfectly, having been calibrated to run consistently. (150)
