Discontinued and will never be made again!! Height: 31cm One of the best Smaugs that Graeme ever carved and he’s carved at least 30 different versions of Smaug! Notice that Bilbo has the ring on his finger, hence he must be invisible. This Edition sold out quickly but collectors have been known to sell their prescioussses. Try eBay but expect to pay in excess of $4000. Interpreting a scene from Tolkien’s The Hobbit, Bilbo, appealing to Smaug’s vanity, convinces him to show off his diamond-encrusted underside, thereby unwittingly revealing a chink in the fire-drake’s formidable armour of gems. Red Swarovski crystals set Smaug’s eyes ablaze, whilst blue faceted crystals twinkle amongst the hoard of treasure at both our characters’ feet. In pewter on a bonded porcelain base. The Guardian and The Thief captures the scene when Smaug, the Guardian of the Treasure of the Lonely Mountain, discovers Bilbo in his lair. Smaug's blood-red crystal eyes search endlessly for the intruder but Bilbo, though quaking with fear at the onset of the meeting, is protected by his magic ring that renders him invisible. Smaug's immense bat-like wings loom across the treasure of the dwarves, countless gems, gold and more in mounds stretching across the floor of the Great Hall. This sculpture is a strictly limited edition of only 500 worldwide and is now sold out.
