Like yours truly, this is a cosmetic and structural disaster--a veritable "Prodigal Son" of a book...when I found this at a church fundraiser for youth, my first inclination was to throw it in the trash...but then it dawned on me that this horrible find was actually a metaphor for this quarter's current Sabbath School adult bible study theme--The Great Controversy. By resisting my initial inclination and placing the book in my fiber bag along with other books far more deserving of salvation by purchase, I was truly emulating the Godhead who had rescued me from the dungheap of life for a future of restoration and heavenly reclamation. I therefore--all in faith--purchased, handled, photographed, and am now about to list this literary disaster in a "We Have This Hope" kind of moment. Perhaps you, too, might experience a Paulinic Come to Jesus moment...I promise you, my description and the photos above are sincerely intended...this is a very poor excuse of a book. If you're expecting something more akin to brand new and smell good, this is NOT the book for you. But if you're other-centered, compassionate, and grateful for what God has done for you, then you may just want this book for your collection....at the very least, if for lack of any sane, rational object lesson, than simply as a reminder of what a sin-conscious, salvation-hungry, leper-fringed soul might look or feel like in a community of self-righteous SDA fundamentalists and Conference Pharisees.
