Soviet Russian Order of the Patriotic War 2nd Class 1945 Japan HQ Colonel

Description: Soviet Russian USSR WWII medal Order of the Patriotic War 2nd Class with serial number in the 700-thousand range, awarded in August 1945 to Colonel Nikita Leonovich Kutuzov, Chief of the Department of Fortified Regions for the Headquarters of the Transbaikal Front. Kutuov earned the award for preparing the front’s Fortified Regions for the invasion of Manchuria in what is sometimes called Operation August Storm. The fortified regions launched the initial assaults in that operation. Kutuzov had previously earned an Order of the Red Star by Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR in 1944 for his work preparing the fortified regions, including construction of defenses and combat training. He also earned an Order of the Red Star, Order of the Red Banner, and Order of Lenin for length of service. Rare award to a headquarters officer for the campaign against Japan! Condition is outstanding, as seen in the images! The serial number of the award is authentic and matches the serial number shown in the archival documents, obviously!
