In 1966 the NFL and AFL agreed to a four-year phased merger, after which they would be called the National and American Conferences of the NFL. It was then that Lamar Hunt, multi-millionaire founder of the AFL and owner of the Kansas City Chiefs, proposed the novel idea that the two leagues (and later two conferences) begin playing a series of post-season championship games -- a sort of World Series of Pro Football. When asked what these games should be called, Lamar Hunt had the answer: the Super Bowl. He made the suggestion half in jest, but in the years to come the Super Bowl has become perhaps the greatest spectacle in sport. This great book tells the story of the Super Bowl focusing on the players with descriptive text, statistics, and great photography. There is some minor edge wear on the DJ, but this book is still in very nice condition. No collection of Terry Bradshaw items or Super Bowl books is complete without this one.
