Description: This very rare and absolutely adorable little girl is not pictured in Walter Dworkin's first edition Price Guide to Holt-Howard's Collectibles however in Dworkin's 2nd edition Holt Howard guide from 2007 it is pictured on page 63. This piece would have been made in the late 50's or very early 60's and is unmarked. These lovely girls are often referred to as the Jolly Floral Girls. Walter Dworkin coined this name since this Pixieware line-up never turn up with a signature or manufacturer's label. Dworkin mentions in both of his guides he was fortunate enough to see a "Jolly" Salt & Pepper set in the original box at a major collectibles show and hence this is where the name "Jolly" stems from. It appears he took the liberty with the "Floral Girls" but it is still rather fitting and quite catchy. I too am fortunate enough to have the Jolly Salt & Pepper in original box and can confirm, just as Dworkin said, no signature or manufacturers paper sticker is found except the paper sticker that reads "Japan". In the first edition of Holt Howard collectors guide only four Jolly Floral Girl pixie jars are found (Mustard, Ketchup, Relish and Jam & Jelly as well as the Salt & Pepper set). In the second edition guide from 2007 an Oil & Vinegar, Mayonnaise and Honey show up for the first time. The Honey is noted as being produced for the Australian market and I can confirm this is true as this piece was purchased by myself from Australia. In his guide Dworkin calls the Honey "a rare find". Most Holt Howard collectors will also agree the honey spoon of any line-up is one of the hardest to find undamaged. The fragile neck of these spoons when used to scoop hardened or thick honey would snap and many Honey spoons and jars were discarded adding to the scarcity. This is a beautiful piece with no chips cracks repairs and some of the usual minor crazing. An extremely rare find for this elusive piece in any condition but to find one mint like this could truly make this one very unique. Jolly Floral Girls are featured in Holt Howard collectibles guide1st edition pages 65-67 and 2nd edition guide Pages 62-64. Insured free shipping to US or Canada with professional packing will ensure this girl will arrive undamaged. You will not be disappointed. Please remember It may take a couple extra days as it is coming from Canada.
