Description: DATING TO THE VICTORIAN 19TH CENTURY FASHIONED OF A STIFFENED BLACK FELT WOOL WITH A GLAZED COTTON LINING THE INNER CROWN. EDGE BRIM IS WIRED AND COVERED IN VELVET RIBBON WITH VELVET RIBBONS TRIMMING THE CROWN WITH VELVET AND SILK SATIN BOWS ON THE FRONT. CONDITION: THERE ARE SMALL TRACE STITCHES OF BROWN ON THE LEFT SIDE AND I SUSPECT THEY MAY HAVE BEEN OSTRICH PLUMES AT ONE TIME. THE HAT IS IN NEED OF A PROPER CLEANING AS IT IS DUSTY FROM ESTATE STORAGE. THE BRIM HAS SOME SMALL PITTED SPOTS OF WEAR WITH WEAR TO THE RIBBON BINDING EDGE BRIM.
