Description: Beautiful condition 1994 Nikon N50D autofocus 35mm SLR camera with a 35-70mm f/3.3-4.5 AF NIKKOR lens - both made in Japan. This is the relatively rare databack model sold as the F50D outside USA. Read an excellent in-depth review of this camera from a long-time owner at:http://cameras.alfredklomp.com/nikonf50/ film-tested, all working well - shots came out beautifully - sharp focus, excellent subject isolation, no noticeable barrel distortion at wider zoom angle (ie: 35mm) nor any vignetting at 70mm max zoom. You will see N50 / F50s on ebay, shopgoodwill.com and elsewhere, often for under $20.00 - 30.00. BUT - be aware: in many cases you are getting an unknown condition piece of equipment that may or may not be functioning when you receive it. Beware when the seller states: "not tested" ! I have had this happen to me over the years and it has gotten me several totally non-functioning "parts" cameras that are good for little else - so... "buyer beware". This camera has had a professional Cleaning Lubrication and Adjustment in September 2024.You will be getting a fully functional and reliable camera as well as a fully tested lens - a ready to use system as soon as you receive your package. CLA done by: Advanced Camera Repair151 Springfield Avenue, suite 8HJoliet, IL 60435 Included 35-70mm lens also inspected / tested by Mike at Advanced Camera. Checked out as 100% functional with no maintenance needed at this time. Zoom adjustment ring is a little stiff in rotation, but Mike advised there is no issue. I do have an identical lens I bought recently for my Nikon N2020 - and the zoom adjustment feels about the same, so this may be the the normal operation from the factory to maintain the zoom level the photographer sets it at without "slipping". Not sure though as I have not owned this model lens from new. Battery compartment is clean - see closeup photo. Does not have and has never had any corrosion from battery leakage. This is a common problem with vintage cameras (and any equipment) when they have been stored with battery for extended periods of time. Recommend always removing the battery when storing the camera for any length of time. Original owner kept the camera and lens stored in a dry, climate-controlled environment and I have done the same. Exceptionally clean appearance with no gouges, scratches, cracks, stains or dirt / residue buildup. Want to give full picture of condition so be aware: some minor surface scuffs / shelf wear as might reasonably be expected from a camera of this vintage. Marks are extremely shallow and unfortunately do not show up well in photographs. Somewhat visible on photo of camera bottom plate. ++++++++++ resolution of 35mm film images vs. digital images:depending on the ISO speed of the film you use, a typical 35mm photo is equivalent to a 20mp to 50mp digital image Low ISO film, such as 100 or 200 = sharper images with less grain, but requires more light to capture an image, equivalent to an approx. up to 50mp digital image. Low ISO film, such as 400 or 800, re = brighter images in low-light environments but typically less sharp photos with more grain, equivalent to an approx. 20+mp digital image. You can adjust the ISO sensitivity on your digital camera to compensate for available light, but your sensor's mp rating is what it is, and it will dictate the maximum resolution of your digital photos. The foremost advantage of film photography is the unique aesthetic it brings. Film has a distinctive texture and depth with rich, warm colors (and superb tonal detail for black & white photographs) and a wide overall tonal range, contributing to an organic look that digital photography struggles to replicate. good overview of film vs.digital at: https://www.elevatedmagazines.com/single-post/digital-vs-film-the-pros-and-cons-in-modern-photography ++++++++++ included - as seen in photos: o N50 camera body with integrated pop-up TTL flash o 35-70mm Nikon AF lens, f/3.3-4.5 - 52mm filter thread o OEM Nikon-branded neck strap, adjustable length nylon strap ends, neoprene padded neck portion with rubberized non-slip backing o OEM Nikon-branded rear lens cap, new in original unopened packaging (use when storing lens off the camera) o OEM Nikon-branded camera body cap (use when storing camera with no lens on it) o clip-on 52mm lens cap (front) o additional battery door (note: not shown in photos)the one on the camera has one hinge pin broken off.
