Research Notes While researching this mandolin, I found an identical design by Kay called Venetian style. I was unable to find any Gibson's of this style on the internet. I was excited at first to see Lloyd Loar's signature still visible on the almost unreadable tag inside the mandolin. It is F-hole design with arch-top and a slight arch on back. Unfortunately, it is probably too good to be true since I don't think Gibson made any Venetian style mandolins. Someone must have taken great pains to make it look like a Lloyd Loar signed Gibson mandolin possibly as a joke. It will require some work to get it in shape. It looks like this item has some age on it, so it might have some historical value.
