Description: Vintage Kenwood KR-9600 Stereo Receiver - FOR REPAIR - READ DESCRIPTION This Kenwood unit is clearly a beloved classic as it regularly sells for $1000-$1500 in good condition, unfortunately this unit isn't in good condition, and will require a lot of work in order get back into decent shape. This unit made it into my hands completely covered top to bottom in dirt, and filth, very likely having been stored in someone's outdoor shed, or somewhere else outside. After about an hour of cleaning dirt and filth off the unit I got it to the state that you see in this listing. I'm honestly was afraid of even trying to plug the unit in its current condition, and the cord is damaged anyway, I won't be splicing a new cable since I don't plan on restoring the unit myself (therefor the unit is untested). I took all the nobs off that I could to get a deeper clean, but eventually settled where for its current state since I had already been cleaning for so long. The nobs that are still on the unit are there because they are so stuck on that I damaged my screwdriver even trying to take out the set screw to remove them. One of the buttons is missing, and others are so dirty they are stuck pressed inward and need to be pulled out to properly clean. Rust and chipped paint are present throughout the unit, and although looking through the cracks the internals seem mostly fine, I find it unlikely that some sort of (potentially major) internal restoration won't be required to get the unit up and running again.
