This badge would have been made before 1964 so it is at least 60 years old. This is an enamel badge for the Bancroft Bowling Club in Northern Rhodesia. The bowls club would be a lawn bowls club, where bowls would be played on a bowling green. Bancroft is the old name for Chililabombwe, which is a town in Zambia in Africa. It is a town in the Copper-Belt region of Zambia. Zambia became an independent country in 1964 and the name Northern Rhodesia became Zambia. Description: The front of the badge depicts a shield with the emblem of the Bancroft Bowling Club. The shield has a white enamel background. A poinsettia flower in red, green and gold enamel features on the shield with the lettering for the club name in gold. The badge sits on a banner declaring NORTHERN RHODESIA, in gold lettering on a red enamel background. The back of the badge is gold-toned in colour and has a working pin and the badge maker’s mark: JOE CALAFATO , BOX 1475, PRETORIA Size: The badge is approximately 2.8cm wide and approximately 2.7cm in height.
