Description: Vintage TEAC A-3340S Four Track Discrete Reel to Reel Tape Recorder. This one needs some work to get it into studio-ready condition. Primarily, the heads are very worn. I'm not sure if it's possible to relap these- they may need to be completely replaced. Currently the deck sounds very muffled as a result. The transport seems to work pretty well, though the usual parts will have to be re-lubed. I haven't attempted any extensive play or record operations with this deck so I can't really comment on the audio electronics, but you should assume that it should need at least a basic servicing (new caps etc) in that area as well. Or you could just harvest this deck for parts. The supply reel hold-down isn't locking properly. You can still get it to work, you just have to fuss with it a bit. Hopefully it just needs the screw tightened or some other simple fix. Also, the remote control socket cap is missing. Currently there's a wire that serves the same function as the cap (you can't operate the deck without something plugged into this socket), but ideally you'd source a replacement cap. Comes with a replacement power cord. No other accessories are included. Avoid the shipping and handling fees if you can pick the deck up in person in zip 92105.
