Handset in American Uncial, printed on English handmade paper and quarter-bound in English leather and French Mable paper at St. Theresa’s Press.” St. Theresa’s Press was founded in 1965 by the Discalced Carmelite Nuns of Flemington, NJ. This copy is specially preserved in a custom clamshell box with a leather label. Excellent condition. As new, with offsetting to the endpapers from the leather used in the binding. Tissue papers laid in to protect the illuminations, as issued. An important American private press volume, copies of which are held in several major public collections, including the Rare Book Room of the New York Public Library and Birdwell Library Special Collections at Southern Methodist University, which wrote of it, “The press of the order of Discalced Carmelite Nuns of Flemington, New Jersey, continued their commitment to handcrafted works with The Voice of the Prophets. The title page, colophon, and each of the twenty passages from the Old Testament, Revised Standard Version, includes colorful hand illuminated initials enhanced with silver and twenty-three carat gold.” Please reference photos for details, and ask questions before bidding.
