Description: VTG Hard To Find KOHLER Round Pottery Ashtray. Condition is "Used". Shipped with USPS Priority Mail (or local pick up). Kohler company (of plumbing fame) has made many neat vases and ashtrays over the years. Most of these objects were made to test the kiln, sample glazes, commemorate internal special occasions, give away at trade shows, or lunchtime pieces made by employees. If you love Kohler pottery, you will enjoy this very hard to find ashtray. Some shapes are common, this shape is rare. This piece is 7 1/8" wide and 1 5/8" tall. It's color is a soft 1940's yellow (guessing it is from the 30s to 40s). From its rarity in the local Kohler area, I'm guessing it was made for testing and given to employees only back in the day. The design never became a "common". The camera didn't quite catch the color. Not as light as the first photo, but not as dark as the 2nd photo. Condition: some darker lines on the inside of the bowl of the ashtray. Could be rub marks from a metallic object or darkened glaze crazes? They are very light, but I thought I'd point them out. One little nibble in the underside of the unglazed rim. Could have been a defect from the day it was made since these were test pieces, not items going to market.
