Description: This vintage cardigan sweater is quite a rarity - not so much the actual sweater, which is impressive, but the fact that it’s in such wonderful condition. No holes or botched repair jobs, no patches of worn fabric, no stains or smells. Kurt Cobain would be disgusted. CONDITION In fact, lucky for all of us, this sweater was not worn much at all, I’d venture to guess. The waist band and sleeve cuffs arn’t stretched out or flabby. This sweater has a great amount of life left in it. SIZE - The tag says Medium but it’s closer to a Small. Its also quite short. However it will need to stretch some just because it was dormant for so long and could gain 2 inches all around after e few wears. Don’t quote me. Just experience talking. MEASUREMENTS were taken with sweater laying flat and buttoned. Measurements are approximate and doubled when appropriate- CHEST - 38” WAIST / BOTTOM OPENING - 28” (stretches) SHOULDERS - 17” SLEEVES (SHOULDER SEAM TO CUFF) - 22.5” CUFF (UNROLLED) - 3.5” LENGTH (COLLAR TO HEM) - 23” MORE INFO From Penny’s Towncraft is this jewel of a mohair and worsted wool knit cardigan sweater with bold stripes of dark brown, light brown or tan and beige. THE BUTTONS Made in the 1960’s the sweater features 6 shiny golden buttons down the center; impressive buttons that are collectible in their own right. They are all replicas of a specific coin from Austria. There is a bird (Eagle) with Latin? Text around the rim reading, “Burg Co Tyr 1780 - Archid Austioux.” Not sure what that all means and I’m ok with that. According to online button collectors it’s a replica of a coin created to honor Mother Theresa of Austria (not the Mother Theresa with the lepers. Even older!) Are they original to the sweater? My first thought was “no” figuring someone who wanted to really make an impression switched them out. A guess. Point is the buttons are unique and cool. Made From 75% Virgin Worsted Wool 25% Virgin Mohair “Worsted Wool” is a special high quality wool yarn named after the town Worstead in the English countryside, County of Norfolk. It’s long wool we call “staple wool.” What’s staple wool, you ask? Google it! How the hell should I know? Seriously… Google it. Made in the USA This sweater is as great as it looks!
